AI Tech & Ethics

Objective

To use technology as a tool that enhances my well-being, supports my spiritual growth, and strengthens my connection to the natural world, rather than allowing it to cause distraction, stress, or disconnection.

Action Plan

1. Digital Mindfulness & Discipline
  • Audit Tech Use: For one week, track how much time you spend on key apps (social media, news, email) and your total screen time. Note how you feel during and after using them.

  • Set Clear Boundaries: Use your phone's built-in tools to set daily time limits for distracting apps. Implement "no-phone zones" in your life, such as at the dinner table, in the bedroom, or during family time.

  • Practice Intentional Use: Before opening an app, ask yourself, "What is my purpose in using this right now?" Use technology with a clear goal, not out of habit or boredom.

  • Schedule Digital Detox: Dedicate at least one day a week (or a few hours each day) to being completely offline. Use this time for reflection, nature, or other spiritual practices.

2. Leveraging Technology for Spiritual & Natural Connection
  • Use Tech as a Tool: Use apps for meditation, journaling, gratitude, or tracking spiritual habits. Download audiobooks or podcasts about spirituality and philosophy.

  • Connect with Nature Digitally: Use apps to identify plants, track constellations, or find hiking trails. Watch documentaries about the natural world to deepen your appreciation for it.

  • Find Your Community: Use online platforms to connect with like-minded individuals in spiritual or wellness groups. Engage in meaningful discussions rather than mindless scrolling.

  • Curate Your Feed: Actively follow accounts that inspire you, promote spiritual growth, or share content about nature and well-being. Unfollow or mute accounts that cause anxiety or negativity.

3. Reflective Practice & Integration
  • Journal Your Progress: Regularly reflect on how your relationship with technology is evolving. Write about moments when technology served you well and times when it did not.

  • Practice Self-Compassion: If you fall back into old habits, don’t judge yourself. Simply acknowledge it and reset your intention for the next day.

  • Integrate Lessons: Use the insights gained from your spiritual practice to inform your digital life. For example, if you learn about presence in meditation, practice being fully present when you use technology for a specific task.
